DIY Thrift Store Camera Bag

I found this beautiful vintage leather bag at our local thrift store for $3. I had been searching for something just like this for weeks now and was so stoked when I spotted this. I've been using my generic camera bag and have been wanting something more me. I wasn't wanting to spend a bunch of money on a new camera bag so that's what lead me to search the thrift store.

This bag didn't have cushion inside and I knew that would be a problem, so I took it upon myself to fix that. I'm all about up-cycling/re-using things as well as trying my hand at new things.

I had an old computer bag that I've had for years, it was outdated and the strap was broken but I had not gotten rid of it yet. When I remembered I had it, I cut it up and took out the foam. I also had some left-over fabric I got from Ikea a year ago that I used to cover our kitchen stools.

I cut up the foam to fit the inside of my new bag and sewed on these covers. Truthfully I really can't sew, and I did it all by hand since I don't have a sewing machine. I'm no perfectionist, so it's pretty sloppy but I tried. After a few almost melt downs, finger pricks and a ton of determination... I finished.

I'm actually so happy with the result, I feel safe storing my camera inside now. I still can't believe I scored this bag for $3 and was able turn it into a camera bag using items I already had at home. What a win!

I'm so in love with this mustardy yellow color too, it's all over right now. I have my eye on a mustard colored sweater from H&M and I need it..hint hint mom ;)
