I'm hesitant to share this post because to me it is extremely vulnerable and a little scary, but I thought that if it encouraged someone else in the same way I was encouraged then it was worth it!
This summer I saw a friend of mine's Facebook post asking for some suggestions to get fit and healthy. Then after what felt like only two weeks, but what was actually 60 days they posted a before and after pictures of there Insanity workout results. I could not believe that 60 days had flown by and they had totally changed there life style and there bodies. They were always hot but they took it to another level.
For about 2 years now i've been wanting to get in shape. In highschool I weighed around 115lbs and have gained about 5lbs every year. At first it didn't seem like a big deal, but it really all came to a head for me when we moved to Canada and I was the heaviest I had ever weighed at 138lbs, now I know that's not a lot but i'm also 5'3 so my weight range should be between 111-124lbs. To me it was now noticeable that I had gained a few extra pounds. It was definitely not fun when all my jeans stopped fitting me.
Over the next year I tried eating healthier but I wasn't sticking to anything. I tried working out in different ways but I always hated it. I really struggled to motivate myself because working out was not fun for me. I didn't like feeling exhausted or sore afterwards and I would never stick to anything long even to get over that hump. However during that year I did loose about 3lbs and on average have been weighing around 136/135lbs.
Ok now I'll fast forward to this summer when Stephane and I went to North Carolina. We spent the week in our bathing suits at the beach. I felt like we both we're smacked in the face with the revelation that at 22 and 23 we're "supposed" to be in the best shape of our lives. Instead we both felt unhappy with our lifestyle and bodies. It was at the beach when we decided to give Insanity a try. I was both excited and scared. Excited to finally change something I had been unhappy with for 2 years and also for the fact that my husband wanted to do this with me. I was scared and worried that I may be physically incapable of completing the work out, or afraid I would hate and dread every minute of it.
Another side note is that I have Polycystic Ovary Syndrome a.k.a PCOS (find out more info HERE). Basically I have cyst's in my ovaries and because of that I don't get my period every month. Now lots of ladies may be thinking "oh that's awesome" but actually it's not. It messes with your hormones a ton and there's a lot of potential side effects. One big thing is that most women with PCOS are over weight. As i've gotten older I've started to look more into PCOS and the side effects and I was really frustrated to hear that it is harder to loose weight and have children. There's no magic pill to make it all go away and one of the best things do to for PCOS is eat healthy (mostly paleo) and workout. Learning this was just another kick in the pants to get healthy and fit.
So it was time for a change, and with my husband fully on board we we're ready go Insane.
This past week we fully completed our 60 days of Insanity. It has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. I am honestly so proud of myself, this has been a massive accomplishment in my life. It feels good to feel good again. Working out with my husband has been so much fun and so encouraging to us both. I may not be at my goal weigh yet but this has now started a lifestyle change for us.
With that said I wanted to share my results with you!

DeleteTHIS IS AMAZING. I am so so so happy to know you guys are happy. I started a health journey almost 7 months ago and it has been truly rewarding. My eyes are now open to many things that I could not see in the past. I started lifting weights and challenging myself to get more muscle. For me, the challenge is to gain muscle weight.
ReplyDeleteYou are doing amazing, keep it up. Even if you have moments or days were you do not work out, do not feel upset with yourself, get excited to go back into it and enjoy your journey. Xoxo.
Thanks for the encouragement Mitzi! It really is quite a journey, it can feel overwhelming with so many different opinions and information out there but exciting to see results and continue my journey!
